Always Do Your Best

Our Four Agreements book club concludes this week with the final video, Always Do Your Best. I've been blown away by your comments the past few weeks. Thank you for sharing your experiences with all of us. This is my favorite agreement because it gives us hope. We don't have to be perfect. We are going to make mistakes. All that matters is that we honestly try to do our best in every moment.

This agreement relates to so many of the topics in Lessons from Madame Chic, like "look presentable always" and "simple pleasures". You'll hear more about that and much more in this week's video. If you are unable to see the video above, click here, look in the sidebar of this blog, or visit my channel: www.youtube.com/TheDailyConnoisseur.

Here are some notable quotes from the chapter:

The fourth agreement is about the action of the first three: Always do your best.
p. 75

You will see that all of the agreements are intertwined. You will notice that the four of them combined affect so much of your life. And really, all you can do when you're practicing being impeccable with your word, not taking things personally and not making assumptions, is to do your best.

If you always do your best there is no way you can judge yourself. And if you don't judge yourself there is no way you are going to suffer from guilt, blame and self-punishment. p. 77

Just do your best. Don't shame yourself if you slip up. Try to learn from each and every one of your failures. Let them make you stronger, not weaker.

Doing your best, you are going to live your life intensely. p. 78

YES! :)

Doing your best really doesn't feel like work because you enjoy whatever you are doing. p. 81

This really reminds me about simple pleasures. Just taking pleasure in the simple and small things in life... thinking about tasks that are traditionally boring and mundane and getting pleasure out of them. Practice this and you can enjoy yourself no matter what you are doing.

If you are impeccable with your word, if you don't take anything personally, if you don't make assumptions, if you always do your best, then you are going to have a beautiful life. p. 88

This is a nice quote to conclude on. It all sounds so simple but we know that it is not easy. The best way is to be aware every day. Be present in your own life and just do your best.

As always, I would love to hear from you. What is your experience with always doing your best?

Thank you for joining me for this Four Agreements book club...
